Jim Larranaga - Scramble Situations

Coach Jim Larranaga provides an excellent teaching sequel to his popular Scramble Defense Series. In this tape, Coach Larranaga briefly reviews both types of scramble defense (first pass trap and ball-handler trap) and then gives an excellent review on how to use this effective defense against various offenses. These offenses include 1-4 high, 1-4 low, 2-1-2 or 2-3 set with a high-post, 4-out/1-in, and a secondary fast break set. Against each of these offenses, Coach Larranaga shows how to defend each with both types of scramble defense and includes the positioning and responsibilities of each position and the critical rotations.

Homer Drew The Box and One Zone Defense

In this great video, Drew outlines the alignments and adjustments for box-and-one coverage using chalkboard and on-court demonstration. Particular attention is paid to high post denial, defending against flash-cutters, and adjusting to offensive overloads. Included are drills to improve player communication and simulate game-like situations. Drew includes instruction for adjusting the box-and-one into a diamond-and-one or a triangle-and-two.

Basketball Offense - the Grinnell Offensive System

The Grinnell offensive system has grown over the years and Coach Dave Arseneault uses his players in this on-court demonstration to show the system in its entirety. The DVD begins with the offense after being scored on and all the options - which include point guard attacking the rim, right wing off a double screen, trailer option, left wing setting a screen and using screens and finally a swing/swing option. The offense also employs a two-man game when the point guard is forced from the middle. The options are the same when attacking off a live ball change of possession. Their offensive attack versus a zone is also demonstrated. The on-court demonstrations finish with a 10-minute drill to teach the players how to play until effectively tired. Coach Arseneault concludes the DVD with 2008.
